SERGEY ZADVORNY – returning since his role as Raimondo in San Francisco Lyric Opera's production of Lucia di Lammermoor – was born in the Ukraine, graduated from the conservatory as a singer and from the university as a mathematician. After studying with Eugeny and Lyudmila Ivanov, he was invited to Italy and studied with Mario Melani and Carlo Bergonzi. Mr. Zadvorny has sung on the most prestigious stages in Europe, including the theatres of Scala di Milano, Bolshoi, Chatelet, Regio di Torino, and the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Salzburg. He is a laureate-winner of 12 international competitions. His opera repertoire includes 30 roles and his concert repertoire includes approximately 100 pieces. A frequent performer for the San Francisco Lyric Opera, Mr. Zadvorny’s recent roles include Alidoro (La Cenerentola), and Sparafucile and Il Conte di Monterone (Rigoletto).
