Since 1995 Mr. Acosta Valdez has participated in the Opera of the University of Sonora as soloist, vocal assessor and Assistant Director. He holds a degree in Arts with a specialization in singing. Previous roles include Alfio (Cavalerria Rusticana), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Germont (La Traviata), Silvio (I Pagliacci). He has performed as a baritone soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Carmina Burana and many other supporting roles. In 2000 he took first place in Cuba’s “Mariana de Gonitch” international competition and has won prizes in various competitions in Russia and France. He frequently tours and performs concerts and recitals throughout Mexico, Cuba, and Europe.
