MARTIN BELL (Crespel, Luther) is pleased to appear with San Francisco Lyric Opera, last seen as Capulet (Romeo and Juliet), Papageno (Flute) and Ferrando (Il Trovatore). A frequent performer on the Bay Area classical music in opera, recital and oratorio, Mr. Bell produced Oakland Opera Theater's acclaimed production of Malcolm X (one of The Chronicle’s 10 classical music events of 2006) and a program of opera works in progress by Bay Area composers called “Great Moments in American History” this spring. In addition to traditional opera, he enjoys contemporary roles including Horemhab (Philip Glass' Akanten) and The Beast (La Belle et La Bete). He will be heard in San Francisco Opera's production of Glass' newest opera Appomattox this fall.
