LARRY SEVERINO, baritone, has made the exciting but unusual progression from supernumerary to soloist singing performer. His many roles as a super for the San Francisco Opera have ranged from spear carrier (Aida) to fool carrier (Louise) and from spiritual leader priest in (Turandot) to tipsy tavern patron (La Boheme). For SF Lyric Opera he serves as super captain. His vocal roles have included Benoit in La Bohème, Yamadori in Madama Butterfly, Fafner in Siegfried, the Sacristan and Jailer in Tosca, Donner in Das Rheingold, and the Wigmaker in Ariadne auf Naxos. His voice teacher, Svetlana Gorzhevskaya, continues to inspire him.
