KIMARIE TORRE

KIMARIE TORRE, soprano, has captivated audiences in her portrayals of Marguerite in Faust, Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, Norina in Don Pasquale, Mimi in La Bohème, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Micaela and Frasquita in Carmen, La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi, Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos, Despina in Cosi fan tutte, Salud in La Vida Breve and Wanda in The Grand Duchess of Ferolstein with San Francisco Lyric Opera, Opera San Jose, San Francisco Pocket Opera, Cinnabar Opera, Oakland Lyric Opera, and Portland’s Bel Canto Festival.  A recent reviewer noted:  “To illustrate her beauty and power, she only has to sing.  She vibrates eardrums with crisp, pure notes and embodies a siren in the mythical sense.”  Ms. Torre is a first prize winner of the East Bay Opera League Competition, the MTAC’s Bella Resek Competition, the Marin Symphony Competition and both Bay Area NATS Opera and Art Song Competitions.  She was also a recipient of a Fellowship Grant in Orlando Opera’s National Rehfuss Singing-Actor Competition and the Marjorie Kaub Award in the Holt Scholarship Competition.  Last year she completed work as a featured, on-screen singer in the upcoming Hollywood film Jackson.  This fall she will be a featured artist with Opera San Jose as Norina in Don Pasquale and Nedda in I Pagliacci.  She is grateful to San Francisco Lyric Opera for their integrity and dedication to opera and for the opportunity to sing this meaningful role.
