KATHERINE GROWDON (Niklausse, Une Voix) returns to San Francisco Lyric Opera after her debut as Mércèdes (Carmen) in 2005. She has a M.M. from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she sang Hansel (Hansel and Gretel) Juno (Semele), La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi), as alto soloist in the Johannes Passion and at the Davies Symphony Hall annual Sing It Yourself Messiah. Other roles include Cherubino (The Marriage of Figaro), Nefertiti (Akhnaten), Count Orsini (Lucrezia Borgia), Third Lady (The Magic Flute), Baba the Turk (The Rake's Progress) Idamante (Idomeneo), and as an alto soloist in Bach's Magnificat with the Oakland Symphony Chorus. Ms. Growdon received her B.A. in Comparative Literature at Oberlin College. She also performs with the vaudevillian troupe, Theatre Comique.
