DARLA WIGGINTON

DARLA WIGGINTON has sung with the opera companies of Portland, Connecticut, Illinois, San José, Sacramento, Eugene, Opera Barga (Italy), and also with Lamplighters Music Theatre, Theatreworks, George Coates, American Opera Projects and others.  A versatile performer, credits include the premiere of Rusty Magee’s Flurry Tales, performed at Lincoln Center in New York, Alto Soloist/Courtesan in San Francisco Symphony’s Le Rossignol and the role of Nefertiti in Oakland Opera Theatre's Akhnaten - which was called one of the “musical events of the year" by the San Francisco Chronicle.  Her classical cabaret show “Girlkulture”, in collaboration with Anja Strauss and Lara Bruckmann, is continuing to build a following and specializes in the music of Weill, Hollaender, Spoliansky, Bolcom and Porter (www.girlkulture.com).  In recent highlights, Ms. Wigginton was seen in the role of The Old Lady in Festival Opera's production of Candide, Maddalena in Eugene Opera's Rigoletto and as Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance with Lamplighters Music Theatre.  Upcoming events include the Alto Soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria with Fresno Philharmonic and Mercedes in Carmen with Sacramento Opera.
